Wedding of Aishwarya Rai & Abhishek Bachchan
Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai marriage was a long awaited and most talked about wedding of India. It was a fabulous marriage but restricted to only a few selected invitees.
The marriage invitation card contained a poem of Amitab Bachchan's father, Shri Harivans Rai Bachchan. The cards were distributed along with sweets from Delhi and Banaras.
The wedding took place in Bombay on 20th April 2007. The barat procession of Abhishek Bachchan started from grooms house "Jalsa" and reached at bride's house "Pratiksha" in 45 minutes time. The procession included Mulayam Singh Yadav - the Chief Minister of UP, Amar Singh - the SP leader, and personalities from Bollywood industries.
Before the actual marriage day, there was a sangeet and mehndi (henna) programmes. The mehndi was brought from Sojat, a small town in Rajasthan, whose mehndi is world famous for its color.
